From May 5 to 9, the Plenary Assembly organized by the UISG (International Union of Superiors General) was held on the theme “Consecrated Life: A Hope That Transforms.” Five days of reflection and sharing were lived in a synodal spirit, also using the method of conversation in the Spirit. A delegation from our Dicastery also participated in this important event, which brought together about 900 Superiors General from around the world. In fact, over the days, the Prefect, Sr. Simona Brambilla, MC, the Undersecretaries Sr. Carmen Ros Nortes, NSC, Fr. Aitor Jimenez, CMF, Dr. Daniela Leggio, Head of Office, and several officials of the Dicastery were present: Sr. Rosemary Rese, Sr. Leonor Botta, Sr. Cristiane Pieterzack, and Sr. Suzanne Bahati.

“While participating in some of the encounters, I experienced a great sense of unity through our diversity” said Sr. Rosemary Rese, of the Little Sisters of the Poor. “United in seeking to follow Christ in fidelity to his call, enriched by the presence of Sisters coming from many points of the globe, characterized by a diversity of ages, charisms and experiences.”

Sister Suzanne Bahati, of the Sisters of the Divine Savior, also recounts a wonderful experience: “We spoke of a hope that transforms, centered on Jesus. Walking together in the spirit of synodality as women of faith, fixing our gaze on the same horizon, hope allows us to bring life back to this world where suffering, despair, injustice, war, and hunger reign... We are called to strengthen the deep communion within our Congregation and communities and to live like the moon that illuminates without dimming the stars.”

An experience of communion that enriched everyone, as Sr. Cristiane Pieterzack, of the Apostles of the Holy Family, said: “If I had to choose among all the beautiful impressions that remain in my heart, I would say that I was deeply struck by the witness of those who spoke at the Assembly, a sign that not only great ideas but also and above all true witness is capable of leading us to the Lord and giving us the strength to proclaim him to the world.”
