Intense activity of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life during the month of November

The month of November was characterised by a rich and well-structured series of meetings and initiatives, during which the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life engaged in ongoing dialogue with numerous ecclesial realities, in a spirit of attentive listening and shared responsibility.

From 18 to 22 November, Dr Daniela Leggio and Fr Vincent Hanicotte, c.c.n., took part in the General Assembly of CORREF, the Conference of Religious of France, held in Lourdes. The presence of the Dicastery fostered an open and constructive exchange on the challenges and opportunities currently shaping consecrated life in the country, highlighting the renewal processes underway.

On 20 November, in Rome, the Executive Committee of the Union of the European Conferences of Major Superiors (UCESM)—comprising Fr Janis, Sr Olena, Sr Angela and Fr Mark-Robin – met with Sr Simona Brambilla, Prefect of the Dicastery, together with Sr Tiziana Merletti, Secretary, and the Undersecretary, Sr Carmen Ros Nortes. The cordial and in-depth dialogue provided an opportunity to reflect on the future perspectives of the Union and on ways of strengthening collaboration with the Dicastery. The meeting concluded with the invitation to the General Assembly, to be held in April 2026 in Croatia, on the theme: Religious life and cultures – consequences for our life and our mission.

From 22 November to 2 December, at the invitation of the Cuban Bishops’ Conference and CONCUR (Conferencia Cubana de Religiosas y Religiosos / Cuban Conference of Religious Men and Women), Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, S.D.B., and Dr Leggio visited the various forms of consecrated life present on the island. Meetings with communities, institutes and consecrated persons engaged in a wide range of pastoral ministries took place in an atmosphere of attentive listening and fraternal sharing of experiences, fostering open dialogue on daily challenges and highlighting the beauty and hope that, despite the country’s complex and difficult situation, continue to inspire the daily service of the communities.
