SPES NON CONFUNDIT. “Hope does not disappoint” is the central message of the Jubilee 2025, for which the Bull of Indiction was published on 9 May 2024.

“In addition to finding hope in God’s grace, we are also called to discover hope in the signs of the times that the Lord gives us,” Pope Francis writes in the text of the Bull. “The signs of the times, which include the yearning of human hearts in need of God’s saving presence, ought to become signs of hope.” (n. 7)

One of these signs is peace, a need that challenges everyone and demands concrete projects to achieve it. Responding to this invitation, the Dicastery for Consecrated Life has chosen as the theme for the Jubilee of Consecrated Men and Women “Pilgrims of hope on the path to peace, also recalling their worldwide engagement in advocacy for peace.

God’s mercy, which opens the heart to hope, is a gift for one and all, in every environment and existential situation, where consecrated life is often on the front lines in the defense and promotion of the rights and dignity of every person: alongside those living in poverty or in prison, migrants, young people.

“The coming Jubilee will thus be a Holy Year marked by the hope that does not fade, our hope in God. May it help us to recover the confident trust that we require, in the Church and in society, in our interpersonal relationships, in international relations, and in our task of promoting the dignity of all persons and respect for God’s gift of creation.” (Bull, n. 25)
