Talitha Kum celebrates its 15th anniversary

The Second General Assembly of Talitha Kum, the International Network of Consecrated Life Against Trafficking in Persons, has just concluded.
Dr. Daniela Leggio, Office Chief of the Office for the Promotion and Formation of Consecrated Life of our Dicastery, was present at the last day of work.
“Walking Together to End Trafficking in Persons: Compassion in Action for Transformation” was the theme that guided the work. Three priorities emerged from the conversation in the Spirit during the days of the Assembly, the most urgent being:
- Addressing new vulnerabilities with cultural transformation.
- Walking together in dignity and empathy with victims and survivors of trafficking.
- Expand collaboration with lay people, priests and youth.
Pauline, a woman from Kenya who has participated in the organization’s work with survivors, presented to the General Assembly an emotionally moving presentation.
Another participant, a young representative of the Talitha Kum Network from Thailand, spoke with hope and enthusiasm about the Network’s work and future.
At the conclusion of the Assembly, the final declaration was read.
