Sister Simona Brambilla and Cardinal Ángel F. Artime reconfirmed in their respective offices “donec aliter provideatur”

His Holiness Leo XIV has expressed the wish that the Heads and Members of the Institutions of the Roman Curia, [...] provisionally continue in their respective offices donec aliter provideatur».

Sister Simona Brambilla, MC, and Cardinal Ángel F. Artime will therefore temporarily continue in their roles respectively as Prefect and as Pro-Prefect of our Dicastery. In accordance with Art. 18 of the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium, in fact, during the Apostolic Vacancy, the Heads of the curial Institutions and Members lose their positions, and the new Pope has the task of appointing or reconfirming the Heads of the Dicasteries of the Roman Curia.

“Upon learning the news of the confirmation of my temporary appointment as Prefect of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life,” Sister Simona Brambilla said: “I renew my commitment to the mission that the Lord, through the Holy Father Leo XIV, has entrusted to me.” The Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium states: “based on their encounter with Jesus Christ, the members of the Curia are to carry out their work in the joyful recognition that they are missionary disciples at the service of the entire people of God” (PE, II, 6). “I entrust myself to Our Lady, Mary Consolata so that she may accompany me and all my colleagues in the Dicastery in living out our calling as a community of missionary disciples in service to Consecrated Life, in deep communion with the Pontiff whom God has given us!”

Words of gratitude were also expressed by Cardinal Ángel F. Artime: “I simply express my availability to the Lord today through the temporary confirmation of my appointment to the service that has been asked of me once again at DICLSAL, together with all my brothers and sisters with whom we carry out this beautiful service to the Church. From the Dicastery, we thank the Lord for the great gift of the Holy Father Leo XIV. Mary, Mother of the Church, will accompany us.”

Together with Sr Simona Brambilla and Card. Artime, to whom we extend our best wishes, we want to continue walking in the service of consecrated life in the world, making our own the desire of Pope Leo XIV: “we want to be a synodal Church, a Church that moves forward, a Church that always seeks peace, that always seeks charity, that always seeks to be close above all to those who are suffering” (Leo XIV, First Blessing Urbi et Orbi, May 8, 2025).
