Being a synodal church in mission

“Synodality and Consecrated Life” is the theme of the report that Sister Simona Brambilla, MC, Secretary of our Dicastery, presented during the 64th CISM (Italian Conference of Major Superiors) National Assembly held in Assisi from 4 to 8 November. In her talk, Sister Simona also spoke about the paths of missionary synodal conversion that challenge consecrated men and women.

“What conversion does consecrated life need in order to challenge the Church and society with its prophetic voice and offer its special contribution to the growth of synodality in the Church?” How to be a synodal Church in mission?

Synodality is expressed as a journey of personal, community, relational, institutional, ecclesial, and missionary conversion in which it is necessary to allow the Holy Spirit to transform the heart. It is necessary to understand how to bring about this change, how to continue walking in a new way by living the challenge of formation, the service of authority, to keep the fire of the vocation burning by bringing the proclamation of the Gospel to the world. By walking new paths of communion and conversion, consecrated life can, therefore, still be a “prophecy of forgiveness, of reparation, of rebuilding the bonds of fraternity, of trust, of communion.”
