Ad limina visit of Bishops of Italy

From January 24 to April 30, 2024, the Bishops of the Italian Episcopal Conference were received in the Dicastery for the Ad Limina Apostolorum Visit. To provide time for listening, each regional episcopal conference was received individually.

The meetings, attended by the Superiors of the Dicastery and the heads of the various Offices, were an opportunity for fraternal dialogue and discussion.

The Bishops’ remarks highlighted the profile of a complex and varied reality: consecrated life in the country is made up of lights and shadows, challenges and new opportunities. It continues to be a numerically significant presence, even if in recent years, it has been declining sharply in numbers, as indeed is the case throughout Europe. Emphasis was placed on the richness of intercultural communities that are increasingly present in the territory, the appreciation of the people of God for consecrated life, and the willingness of consecrated persons to serve the Lord in the most geographically remote areas and existential peripheries.
