On June 7, 2024 Delegations from Ceama (Ecclesial Conference of the Amazon) and Repam (Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network) were received at our Dicastery, chaired respectively by Cardinal Pedro Barreto Jimeno, S.J. (President of Ceama) and Bishop Rafael Cob García (President of Repam).

Both organizations serve the mission of the Church in the Amazon and animate the synod process in the territory. They are present in 8 countries: Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.

Repam, which is celebrating 10 years of existence, is a space for pastoral coordination that defends human rights and the environment in an area where the excessive exploitation of natural resources has undermined people’s quality of life by generating severe inequalities.

Ceama is an organization of the Catholic Church that, accepting the directions of the Amazon Synod and the Apostolic Exhortation “Querída Amazonía,” works to put them into pastoral practice.

The two organizations work in a communion that is continually being strengthened over time to promote synodality, listening to the cry of the Amazon and directing efforts on behalf of life and the environment in this vast territory.
